Elementary Christmas Party

The Elementary students were so excited about their Christmas party yesterday! They were split into 2 teams - the Red & Green. They played some fun games throughout the morning.

The first game was a Christmas ornament scavenger hunt. Each team had a Christmas tree to decorate. They had to send members of their team downstairs to find certain ornaments for their tree. Each ornament was worth a certain amount of points. The first team to get all their ornaments on the tree in the right places was the winner.

The second game was "Christmas Bingo". Each child was given a card with all different pictures related to the Christmas story. One child would select a card from the pile and the rest would use a marker to cover that picture on their card if they had it. The first child to get 4 in a row shouted "Merry Christmas!" and won the game.

The third game was Christmas Corners. In each corner of the room there was a picture - Jingle Bells, Candy Canes, Snowmen, and Gingerbread Men. The children would run around the room, and when the music stopped they had to find a corner. A picture would then be drawn from the basket, and whoever was in that particular corner would be out. Whoever was the last person standing won the game for their team!

The fourth game was Christmas Word Scramble. Each team was given letter cards and a bunch of Christmas related words. They had 15 minutes to unscramble all the letters in their pile and hold up the correct letters to make words. Whoever was able to hold up the most words in that amount of time won the game!

The fifth game was Christmas Wreath Targets. There were 3 wreaths on the board. Each wreath was worth a certain amount of points. A team member was given 3 tries to hit the wreaths with a ball. If they hit a wreath target, they won points for their team!

The sixth game was Musical Candy Pass. The children sat in a circle and two people were given a candy cane filled with Hershey kisses. While the music played, the children passed the candy canes around the circle. When the music stopped, whoever was holding the candy cane, got to have 2 Hershey kisses and some points for their team. In the end, whoever pulled the last 2 Hershey kisses from the candy canes received 100 points for their team!

After these games were over, there were a few minutes left before it was time for lunch, so Mr. Follett played a quick game of Christmas Hangman with the children, while Miss Follett tallied up all the points. He tried to stump them with words like Luke, Bethlehem, shepherds, gold and myrrh, but they were able to figure it out each time!

And the winning team for the day was...

THE GREEN TEAM!!

We then all went upstairs to enjoy the yummy lunch Mrs. Lytle prepared. Hot dogs, macaroni & cheese, apple sauce, chips, carrots, fruit punch, and Christmas cupcakes!
